Given the firm’s continued growth and success they are seeking an Interiors Practice Design Leader to play a key role in their San Francisco practice regionally, nationally and globally.
OPPORTUNITY:
As part of a collaborative global design practice, the Interiors Practice Design Leader will work closely with the San Francisco Leadership Team, and the firm-wide Interiors Leadership Team, developing a design approach that is responsive to the marketplace and within the firm's core values and Design Ethos. S/he will have the opportunity to use his or her exemplary skills, talents and expertise in creating a design framework that supports stand-alone Interiors as well as some of the most significant integrated design projects of our time. The Interiors Practice Design Leader supports the ethos of the practice by directing, administering, and coordinating the priorities and initiatives of the San Francisco office and leading Interior Design within an aggressively growing global practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish the Design vision and further the development of Interiors projects in all phases through:
Coordinating meetings and developing consensus with the Design Partner or Director
Communicating Design goals to the project team on a regular basis
Writing a comprehensive design narrative for the project that will inform the client and other disciplines about the Design intent, as well as contribute to publications and business development initiatives
Producing Design drawings consistent with office standards for the publication and presentation of work
Producing a Design consistent with the owner/client Design objectives, program, budget, and schedule
Collaborating with other disciplines in establishing Design direction
Establishing, communicating, and maintaining standards of quality for design and work product
Oversees the production of Concept Design, Schematic Design, and Design Development deliverables
Together with the Technical Designer, assist the Project Manager in establishing project budgets and schedules, and remain committed to working within the established parameters
Oversees project delivery efforts to establish efficient and innovative approaches to communicate design intent and scope throughout all project phases to meet Project Team requirements
Oversees the production resources and schedules of documentation for agreed upon deliverables, particularly for the Concept Design, Schematic Design, and Design Development phases
Supports the Technical Designer in the implementation of the Quality Management System for assigned projects
Fosters lasting and positive relationships with clients, the design community, and important government agencies (i.e. planning departments, commissions, and advocacy groups)
Oversees the design, programmatic, contextual, and cultural research and analysis required for the project
Oversees team in selection and assessment of materials and finishes for the project
Reviews deliverables for compliance with the project’s programmatic requirements
Supports the production of the technical specifications for the project
Works with the Senior Technical Designer, Project Manager and Digital Coordinator to implement the computer management program for the project utilizing the Project BIM Execution Plan and promoting digital innovation
When applicable, supports the team’s construction phase services scope including, but not limited to the following:
Makes periodic site visits to monitor construction progress and identify areas needing correction and/or modification
Attends visual mockup review
Assists the Technical Designer in reviewing shop drawings for design intent
Works with IT, Marketing, and Records Management to archive all final and preferred drawings, renderings, and photos for future use
Participates in local and firm-wide Design Review Meetings and Retreats and makes meaningful contributions to the advancement of activities led by these groups

Effective at communicating and promoting the work of the firm
EXPERIENCE:
Substantial, progressively responsible experience in leading interior design
10+ years of design leadership experience with a focus on large scale workplace and hospitality projects
General understanding of sustainable strategies and principles including familiarity with LEED or other green building rating systems
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead project teams and manage project schedule, budget and program
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, digital modeling tools (Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, etc.)
Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD
EDUCATION:
Four-year accredited Architectural or Interior Design Degree. Completion of five or six year Architectural or dual Degree program preferred
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Architectural Registration and/or NCIDQ professional accreditation
LEED accreditation preferred
