Given the firm’s continued growth and success, they are seeking a Managing Director to lead the New York practice, who will have a significant impact regionally, nationally, and globally.

OVERVIEW:
The Managing Director will lead the firm’s North American Architectural Studio based in New York. As part of a dynamic global leadership team, this entrepreneurial and collaborative leader will direct and oversee all business operations, people, and ventures in North America, playing a key role in the growth and overall success of the practice and business, and reporting to the firmwide Managing Director. With the broad support of a multi-faceted international practice, the Managing Director will leverage the firm’s significant network of resources, clients, and opportunities, and with the support of talented human resources, financial, legal, and IT talent in the United States.

Working in close collaboration with a cohesive leadership team that includes Design Directors, a Business Development Director, and Associate Principals, the Managing Director is a visionary leader with a strong ability to align strategic objectives with day-to-day operations while fostering a cohesive and motivated team culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and execute business strategies to grow the business and brand. 
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities.  
  • Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated and always followed.
  • Communicate and maintain trust relationships with clients and collaborators.  
  • Drive the company’s financial performance, investments, and other business ventures.  
  • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of senior employees providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance. 
  • Act as a public speaker and public relations representative of the company in ways that strengthen the profile.  
  • Proficiency in nurturing a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work culture.
REQUIREMENTS + SKILLS:  
  • Licensed Architect in New York State, with NCARB Certificate (multiple state licenses preferable).  
  • Proven experience as Managing Director or other managerial position in the US with strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic growth plans and business plans.  
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and P&L responsibilities. 
  • Thorough knowledge of market and proven and robust network of clients and collaborators.
  • Familiarity with corporate law and management best practices. 
  • Exude positivity and encouragement to galvanize a team behind a shared vision. 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. 
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure.  
  • 20+ years of experience

Salary Range Information

At the time of posting this job advertisement, the annual pay salary range for this position is between $175,000 and $240,000 commensurate with qualifications.
