Senior Architect/Project Manager: Government/K-12

Given the firm’s strategic growth, they are seeking a Senior Architect with a depth of experience and expertise leading complex County and Municipal and/or K-12 projects and project teams, to assume a key leadership role in their Government/Education Practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The Senior Architect will be an entrepreneurial and collaborative leader, highly skilled in client leadership, project leadership, and development of complex K-12 and/or County and Municipal projects including Courts, City Hall, County Administration, Land Use Planning, Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Fire Stations. They will work closely with the Government/Education Practice Leader and the Government/Education Practice Team to ensure a smooth workflow throughout all phases of the planning, design, documentation, and construction process. The firm’s strengths lie in the integration of architecture, landscape architecture and engineering. The Senior Architect, as a key leader within the Government/Education Practice, will work closely across disciplines, collaborating in the development and technical execution of projects. 

With exceptional skills at building long-term relationships, the Senior Architect will be actively involved with marketing and business development efforts to engage new clients and manage existing client relationships in Greater Washington DC, the Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast. They will manage the full scope of project responsibilities with a focus on design management and project performance/ profitability. Adept with the big picture and the smallest details, the Senior Architect will have proven client and project management experience and firsthand knowledge of the building types within a county and municipal real estate portfolio. They will have the ability to work across projects of multiple scales and share this knowledge and expertise as a mentor to junior and intermediate talent.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Architecture and Licensure required, LEED AP preferred
  • 10-15+ years progressive project experience and leadership on complex county and municipal and/or K-12 projects, inclusive of new construction and renovation/restoration
  • Experience with all phases of projects including successful experience navigating and interacting with planning boards and review boards.
  • Collaborative leader with a proven track record of running teams and working closely with clients, sub-consultants and vendors while completing large, complex projects.
  • Proven ability to present information and respond quickly to inquiries from managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Proven fiscal accountability and responsibility, and an understanding of market forces pertaining to fees, scope, and schedule requirements.
