Senior Building Enclosure Specialist

With a growing portfolio and strategic growth opportunities throughout the Midwest, they are seeking to identify a Sr. Building Envelope Specialist to play a key leadership role in the firm’s thriving Chicago office.                      

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ideal candidate will be an engaged and passionate Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer with a depth of experience focused on new and existing building enclosure, curtain wall, and glazing systems in the Midwest, specifically in the Chicago Region. S/he will lead the investigation and assessment of existing building enclosure systems and solve complex building system problems in collaboration with a team of highly respected industry leaders. The Sr. Building Envelope Specialist will manage detailed evaluation of complex building façade systems and evaluate energy models, including building systems and life cycle costs to determine appropriate solutions. S/he will participate in staff and project management, development and review of construction documentation, field observations to assess material conditions, corrective recommendations, cost evaluations and preparation of formal documents and reports. The Sr. Building Envelope Specialist must be technically strong in major building types and their primary systems. With minimal or no oversight, s/he will manage multiple concurrent projects and ensure project deliverables are completed to established company quality standards with consistent client follow-up.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or Engineering
  • 15+ years’ experience, including architectural systems analysis, reserve studies, condition assessment, building envelope investigation and/or restore + repair documentation
  • Strong constructibility experience with all commercial property types, including high-rise, multifamily residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, retail, and office
  • Experience with field investigation, corrective recommendations, repair and restoration documentation, enclosure commissioning, life safety evaluation, plan review, due diligence, cost recommendations, formal report preparation and on-going client communications, managing and coordinating project workflow, and mentoring professional staff preferred
  • Excellent technical communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Competency with Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, THERM and WUFI.
