The firm’s market segments include Commercial Office, Multifamily, Higher Education, Institutional, Hospitality, and Mixed-Use projects. Given the firm’s planned growth and success they are seeking to identify a Director of Business Development to assume a key leadership role within the firm expanding the firm’s presence across multiple sectors within the DC Region and Nationally.
As a key leader within this National Architecture, Planning and Interiors Firm, the Director of Business Development will be instrumental in coalescing the firm’s cadre of talented experts and design professionals under a firmwide marketing + business development strategy. S/he will gain a strong understanding of the firm’s talent, expertise and culture in the development of detailed strategic business plans for each market sector. The strategic business development plans, inclusive of budgets, will provide a ‘live blueprint’ to guide and direct the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives. In collaboration with office and firm-wide leadership, the Director of Business Development will be responsible for orchestrating and leading business development activities focused identifying and securing Government, Mixed-Use, Retail, Multifamily, Hospitality, College/University and Healthcare clients and projects.
S/he will work closely with firm leadership in crafting a broader business development vision + strategy that aligns with short and long-term business goals.The Director of Business Development will be responsible for ensuring his/her colleagues develop a thorough and appropriate strategic understanding and response for each opportunity while proactively developing relationships that position the firm prior to RFP. With the ability to develop and build upon new and existing client, consultant, and other related industry relationships, s/he will be responsible for expanding the firm’s regional and national network inclusive of owners, developers, brokers and other business and community organizations.The Director of Business Development will leverage the firm's multi-disciplinary platform and depth of expertise as key market differentiators and dynamic instruments for client engagement in building a compelling value proposition that closely aligns with the vision, goals and objectives of the firm.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Management or Architecture.
Minimum of 10+ years experience in Business Development activities with a principal focus on the Commercial, Corporate, College/University, Federal Government and/or Interiors Markets.
Excellent reputation with demonstrated business development expertise
Proven experience developing and implementing tactical and strategic business plans
Exceptional communication and presentation skills
Proficient with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Cosential (or similar CRM)
Active with professional groups/organizations: ie. ULI, SCUP, NAIOP, CoreNet, Bisnow
