Design Leader - Senior Architect

With a portfolio spanning Multi-Family, Mixed-Use, Student Housing, Academic + Institutional, Corporate, Retail, Hospitality and Recreation building types, this international practice leverages its expertise and in-depth local knowledge to develop innovative market driven solutions. The firm's emphasis on continuing education and advanced technology elevates the design process and allows for innovation throughout each project. Given the firm’s continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Architect to assume a key leadership role in the firm’s Washington, DC office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Architect is a passionate and strategic leader, advancing the firm’s objectives through strong design, talent development and client engagement. With demonstrated Multi-Family, Student Housing, Commercial, Retail, Hospitality and/or Higher Education design and leadership experience, s/he will work regionally and nationally to reinforce and elevate the firm’s reputation for design driven, market responsive and sustainable solutions that capture the essence of place. The Senior Architect will develop concepts individually, and in collaboration with colleagues, that engage and excite clients. As a leader in the Alexandria office, s/he will leverage the firm’s expertise, portfolio and talent in the development of client initiatives that support short and long-term business objectives.

This strategic hands-on leader will be actively involved in the creative development of projects, the office and the firm, and will monitor all aspects of projects focused on the highest quality of architecture and design. As mentor and coach the Senior Architect will motivate project teams and individuals, fostering an environment of mutual respect and trust within the office. S/he will have the personality and drive to mentor and challenge colleagues to elevate design and push design technology.

The Senior Architect will elevate the design and development process by leveraging and engaging talent at all levels. Working in close collaboration with the Managing Principal and firmwide leaders, s/he will play an active role in the development and execution of marketing and business development strategies, staff development, project design/delivery and client relations.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • 12-15+ years professional experience with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
  • Architecture License required, LEED Accreditation preferred
  • Proficient + Engaged w/ latest Tech including: Revit, 3DSMax, ACAD, Adobe CS
  • Established record of successful design leadership, running multiple projects + teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to manage people and projects
  • Proven experience identifying leads, building a network and acquiring work.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills both internally and externally.
