This award winning multi-disciplinary Architecture + Design firm has an extensive portfolio encompassing Government, Multi-family Residential, Student Housing, Mixed-use, Hospitality, and Corporate projects. Given the firm’s strategic growth, they are seeking a Government Practice Leader who brings a depth of experience and expertise orchestrating complex County and Municipal projects and project teams, to assume a key leadership role in their Minneapolis office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Government Practice Leader will be an entrepreneurial and collaborative leader, highly skilled in the client leadership, project leadership, design and development of complex County and Municipal projects including Courts, City Hall, County Administration, Land Use Planning, Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Fire Stations. They will work closely with the Managing Partner, other Practice Leaders, and the Government Practice Team to ensure a smooth workflow throughout all phases of the planning, design, documentation, and construction process. The firm’s strengths lie in the integration of architecture, landscape architecture and engineering, and the Government Practice Leader, as a practice, project, client, and office leader, will work closely across disciplines, collaborating in the development of designs and technical execution of the projects.

With exceptional skills at building long-term relationships, the Government Practice Leader will lead the marketing effort with business development and design colleagues to attract new clients and manage existing client relationships in the Twin Cities, Regionally, and Nationally. They will manage the full scope of projects including design management, technical excellence, quality assurance project delivery and project performance/ profitability. Adept with the big picture and the smallest details, the Government Practice Leader will have proven practice, client, and project management experience and firsthand knowledge of the building types within a county and municipal real estate portfolio. They will have the ability to work across projects of multiple scales and share this knowledge and expertise as a mentor to junior and intermediate talent.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Architecture and Licensure required, LEED AP preferred
  • 20+ years progressive project experience and leadership on complex county and municipal projects, inclusive of new construction and renovation/restoration
  • Experience with all phases of projects including successful experience navigating and interacting with planning boards and review boards
  • Collaborative leader with a proven track record of running teams and working closely with clients, sub-consultants and vendors while completing large, complex projects
  • Proven ability to present information and respond quickly to inquiries from managers, clients, and the general public
  • Proven fiscal accountability and responsibility, and an understanding of market forces pertaining to fees, scope and schedule requirements
